Jermale Eddie and his wife, Anissa, didn’t know the documentary “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” would change their lives. “After watching the documentary,” Anissa said, “he [Jermale] got a juicer and started creating recipes.” The entire family jumped in to help, and soon their hobby became a business idea.   A family run health-food operation Malamiah Juice Bar opened in 2013, and the Eddies have never looked back. For seven years, Malamiah has served Grand Rapids, Michigan, with delicious juices, salads and more. Jermale’s core belief is that healthy can taste good, and this philosophy is the heart of every creation. The juice at Malamiah is made fresh to order with the finest ingredients. Malamiah is a family business, and a lot of thought went into the name before they opened. “The name came from a combination of our kids: Malacai, Nehemiah and Josiah,” Jermale said. “We felt like this was important because we are leaving a legacy for our kids.”   Partnership with Consumers Jeff Chappell, one of our Grand Rapids business development managers, worked closely with Jermale to secure a loan to expand and relocate the juice bar. “Working with Consumers Credit Union has been a beautiful relationship” Jermale said. “They made the process [of getting a loan] easy and seamless, and they asked all the right questions.”   Now accepting orders In response to the coronavirus, Malamiah Juice Bar is open for next-day delivery orders via FedEx or Malamiah Door-to-Door Delivery. Once life returns to normal, you’ll find them located in Studio Park in downtown Grand Rapids.
