Banking after coronavirus: What to expect

How we’re keeping everyone safe while making banking accessible how you want, when you want. Just as the coronavirus pandemic has irrevocably changed work and school, it’s forced banking to change, too. Fortunately, Consumers already provided tools that allow you to bank how and when you want. Online Banking. Our Mobile App. Voice and text banking. During the Stay Home Stay Safe order, banking in person was still available by appointment and at our Interactive Tellers. Now that our offices have reopened, here’s what we’re doing to keep you and our employees safe. In-person precautions We’ve always enjoyed the feeling of family we share with members and that will continue – it will just be different. When you arrive at a Consumers office, you’ll get a warm welcome, as usual, and a request to take precautions to protect everyone’s health. Everyone entering the building is asked to wear a mask. If you don’t have a mask, one will be provided. Gloves and hand sanitizer will also be available. There will be someone at the door to greet and guide you. Once you’re inside the office, you’ll notice floor markings to help everyone maintain a six-foot separation from others. The greeter will ensure proper distancing and may limit occupancy as needed. We ask that only those required to do the necessary transaction(s) come inside. When you reach the teller or Interactive Teller, you’ll be close enough do your banking with privacy thanks to plexiglass sneeze guards that have been installed to block germs. You’ll also notice that some of the usual amenities have been removed temporarily to ensure cleanliness and safety. Drinking fountains, bathrooms (except for emergencies), coffee/cookie stations, and other designated areas like Online Banking stations are closed until further notice. Interactive Tellers are staffed by real people If you’ve never used our Interactive Tellers, think of them as a hybrid of an ATM and a FaceTime call with a bank teller. When you initiate a transaction at the machine, a two-way video starts with one of our local tellers. It’s the perfect way to get personalized banking service with a real person and stay healthy. Interactive Tellers are available at ALL Consumers locations in the drive thrus, even those where the office is currently closed for construction. Plus, drive-thru Interactive Teller hours are extended from 9 a.m.—7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.—1 p.m. on Saturdays to provide expanded service. More banking options Remember, in addition to in-person banking and Interactive Tellers, you always have access to your accounts in other ways. Through Online Banking on your desktop or your Mobile App, you can pay bills, check the balance on your accounts or even deposit checks.
