The financial industry changes every day. New technology and new regulations mean there are new ways to help you, our members, achieve your financial goals. At Consumers, training is a vital part of not only your success—but for our employees, too.

The Consumers training department works tirelessly from a new hire’s very first day to ensure every employee receives the knowledge and skillset required to assist our members. Training isn’t a one-week program! Our training department provides ongoing training over a multitude of subjects (from bank safety and security to how to close loans) that allow our employees to grow, not just in service to our members, but as individuals. (We do a ton of leadership training, public speaking classes and more.) We believe as a company—as coworkers, peers and friends—that building upon our strengths is the right thing to do and a way to build not just a better credit union but a better world.

We are proud to announce that Kristen Davidson, our vice president of organizational development and manager of the training department, has won the 2018 Trainer of the Year Award from BizLibrary, our eLearning partner.

Criteria for the award included an in-depth look at the progressive thinking regarding training and employee development, the depth of personal experience, the enthusiasm for employee learning within the program and 10 qualities of an excellent program manager by BizLibrary’s standards.

Kristen’s win is a source of pride for Consumers. Her passion and level of commitment to our organization is bar none, and the training team she leads is one big reason we can maintain our high levels of member and employee satisfaction. Insomuch as this award honors Kristen, it would not have been possible without the work of the entire training and development team.

To our members—we are working hard every day to ensure you’re living your best financial life. Thank you for everything you do, and thank you for working with us as we make West Michigan the most spectacular place to live.
